🍵 Soft Matcha Cookies — A Sweet Ritual with a Green Glow
Crispy on the edges, soft in the middle, and infused with the earthy sweetness of Matcha — these cookies are not just a treat, they’re a little moment of calm.
Perfect with your afternoon tea or as a cozy weekend bake, they bring a taste of Japan straight into your kitchen.
Ingredients (makes about 12 cookies):
-
1 tablespoon of premium Matcha powder
-
150 g (¾ cup) softened unsalted butter
-
100 g (½ cup) white sugar
-
50 g (¼ cup) brown sugar
-
1 large egg
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
200 g (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon baking soda
-
A pinch of salt
-
Optional: white chocolate chips or macadamia nuts for a sweet contrast
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a bowl, cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
-
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
-
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking soda, salt, and Matcha powder to remove any lumps and blend evenly.
-
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a smooth dough forms.
-
If you like, stir in white chocolate chips or nuts for a delicious texture.
-
Scoop small portions of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
-
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are slightly golden but the center is still soft.
Let them cool slightly before enjoying that first bite — buttery, chewy, and perfectly balanced with Matcha’s subtle earthy flavor.
These cookies look as good as they taste — a beautiful shade of jade green and the perfect gift for matcha lovers. 🌿
